The Impact James Anderson's Retirement Has On England

What Happened:

James Anderson has retired from all forms of cricket on 12th July 2024 after a win against the West Indies in the first Test Match of the 3 match series. He will no longer take part in international cricket anymore. It is a sad moment for all cricket fans as he has the highest amount of ODI wickets for England(269) has 18 T20I wickets because of the lack of T20IS he played. He also took 704 wickets in Test Matches which is his most admirable feat.

The Bigger Picture:

Jimmy Anderson has maybe deserved the title of the best English Test bowler. England has always had an admirable team with amazing bowlers as well. That just shows how good he was that he stood out. England gave the West Indians a thumping defeat of an innings and 114 runs. If someone tries listing the feats that Jimmy Anderson has achieved they will never finish. Hence, I will not waste your time and tell what England should do now.

The Way Forward:

England have a lot of talent and they also have a very effective coaching and grooming system. They have a lot of players that have played a few Test Matches and have performed such as, Gus Atkinson, Mathew Potts, Josh Tounge etc. If you look at talent they have a lot however, when one gets to such a high level of cricket then going back down could upset the fans. They could go down because before whenever in trouble England would just call Anderson or Stuart Broad( who retired in the last match of the Ashes).

Are Youngsters The Solution?:

These youngsters won't have the experience to bowl in the tough situations. You could use Mark Wood ,but with the frequent injuries he gets that could be a problem. The same goes for Jofra Archer for those of you that believe he could be a solution. You need someone you can rely on anytime. Usually Chris Woakes is fit, but who will bowl the hard overs alongside him. In that case Matthew Potts is the best choice as he has the discipline in his bowling and the knack of troubling the batsman. We will have to see what Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum decide.
