What will happen if the ICC T20 World Cup Semifinal 2 gets washed out?

If the ICC T20 World Cup Semifinal 2 between India and England gets washed out then India would go through to the finals. England wouldn't be able to recreate what happened last time these two teams met in a semifinal of a T20 World Cup. Last time out in the 2022 edition England defeated India to reach the final. This time however, if the match does get washed out it would be heartbreaking for the Englishman. The rule is actually that if the semifinal is washed out then the team with the higher points in their Super 8s groups will progress.        If this is the case then India will face South Africa as the proteas dealt a humiliating defeat to the Afghani earlier today. Afghanistan was all out for 56 runs. South Africa chased that down easily. If the match is washed out then the final might actually be extremely hard as South Africa and India both topped their Super 8 groups. They remained unbeaten in their respective groups. This way, then, the ...

The World Cup 2024 Semi-Finals

The T20 world cup 2024 semifinalists have been announced. The teams are India, England, Afghanistan, South Africa. South Africa and England topped their group and India and Afghanistan topped theirs. Surprisingly Australia could not perform when it mattered and did not qualify.  The first semifinal in Trinidad and Tobago will be between the South African proteas and Afghanistans lions. The second semifinal is taking place in Guyana between an unbeaten India side and an England team that barely got through to this stage.  England would be hoping that things go their way like last time. England are the reigning champions and faced India in the semifinals in 2022. They had a comprehensive win which gave them the confidence to win against Pakistan. India however are trying to have a change of luck and win their 2nd T20 world cup. They won the first T20 world cup ever. If England wins it would be their 3rd as they also won in 2010. Now, South Africa are a team that has been d...

What kind of problems is this World Cup causing?

This cricket World Cup in the USA is causing problems for a lot of franchises and players. As we all know the World Cup in the USA and the West Indies is going on with the knockout matches approaching and the nail biting finishes starting. However, right after this World Cup there are 3 franchise leagues that are starting. The LPL(Lanka Premier League) the Hundred and the MLC(Major League Cricket). Now the LPL takes place in Sri Lanka every year and it will start from 1st July and end on 21st July. The Hundred will start on 23rd July and the final in Lords being on 18th August. The real problem will come now when the MLC which is held in the USA will start on 6th July and end on 29th July. Now since this is in the USA a lot of players that are playing in this and the LPL will most probably play in the MLC because the World Cup is also in USA and they might want to stay if they reach the knockout rounds. Now in The Hundred you have to get a good start because otherwise then it is v...

What does the PCB chairman mean by major surgery

The PCB chairman (Mohsin Naqvi) has stated in a press conference after the Indian defeat that "We need to go for major surgery." So what could this surgery mean? He also said that "We need to now start looking at players beyond those in the team right now." The second statement gives a bit of clarity with what he meant by major surgery. As you know that Pakistan has recalled 2 players from retirement (Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir). That makes one think that does Pakistan have a proper domestic system in which players are groomed or if they have any talent at all. Well the answer is that Pakistan does have talent however what they don't have is a good system in domestic cricket or a good grooming system in which players are groomed and are given matches to play and get experience before playing international cricket. There are obviously some exceptions like Tayyab Tahir, Usama Mir, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Ali, Qasim Akram, Mohammad Hurraira, Abdullah Shafique a...

Pakistan's performance and the way forward in the T20 world cup 2024

Pakistan has played 2 matches in the 2024 T20 world cup and the first match was a disspaointment for the Pakistani fans. Pakistan suffered a humiliating defeat against the co-hosts USA. They drew out the match and took it to the super over in which they lost. Pakistan batted first and made 159 runs with 7 wickets down in 20 overs. It was a poor performance from the Pakistani team. Their captain Babar Azam played very slowly and couldn't get the start they needed from the openers. Mohammad Rizwan also played poorly making 9 runs of 8 balls. The Pakistani team was under pressure early and to top it all of wickets kept falling. Pakistan got to this misely total because of a partnership of 62 runs featuring Babar Azam and Shadab Khan. The USA got a reasonably good start but couldnt let loose like they did in the previous match. They needed 13 runs of the last 3 balls courtesy of a crucial 50 from the captain himself Monank Patel. They made 12 runs and took the match to the super over....
